In a season dedicated to gratitude and giving, the Youth Navigator Network (YNN) took part in two exciting events - the Thanksgiving Together dinners in Columbus and Cincinnati and a Day of Giving in Columbus. Led by Program Manager Arlene Jones and a dedicated team of navigators, YNN demonstrated its commitment to supporting young people through meaningful connections and valuable resources.

Thanksgiving Together in Columbus and Cincinnati:

As the Thanksgiving holiday approached, YNN team members participated in Foster Action Ohio's Thanksgiving Together dinners in Columbus and Cincinnati. Equipped with YNN swag and informational material, the team engaged with current and former foster youth, offering connections and resources. Thanksgiving Together provided a unique platform for networking, sharing a meal, and reflecting on the year. Attendees were treated to YNN winter beanies and portable phone chargers, and everyone left with a sense of belonging and community support.

Day of Giving in Columbus

The YNN team embarked on a mission to spread warmth and deliver gifts during a recent Day of Giving in Columbus. Visiting six different organizations in Columbus, the team distributed 150 specially curated bookbags. Each bag contained a cozy blanket, a cell phone battery charger, and a winter cap, providing comfort and practicality for the approaching winter season. YNN's presence was not just about distributing items - it was a symbol of the dedicated support that the organization extends to youth in Ohio.

As we wrap up 2023, we reflect on the growth of the Youth Navigator Network. Through initiatives like the Day of Giving and attending the Thanksgiving Together dinners, YNN has reached program milestones, connecting with Ohio’s foster youth in a meaningful way. The care packages serve as a tangible representation of YNN's commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of youth and young adults.

With gratitude in our hearts, YNN looks forward to expanding its reach and impact in 2024. YNN is planning future Days of Giving in Cleveland and Cincinnati in 2024. These events will provide additional opportunities to engage with young people face-to-face, hear their stories, and offer the support they need.

As we celebrate the program’s first year in service, the Youth Navigator Network remains focused on its mission to support and uplift young people in the state of Ohio.
